West Essex Cricket Club
West Essex Cricket Club was formed in 1921, Are members of The Shepherd Neame Essex League and The Essex Sunday League. Also are affiliated to the Metropolitan Essex District Cricket Board, Essex County Cricket Board and The Club Cricket Conference.
Our season runs from the end of April to the end of September. We run 4 sides on Saturdays in the Shepherd Neame Essex League and 1 side on Sundays so we can offer cricket at all levels for both high quality players and those of lower ability who just want to enjoy a game of cricket at the weekend.
We are a friendly, multi-ethnic club with an open membership policy, who, in recent years, have welcomed overseas players from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Guyana. We have an active social scene and welcome all members to attend our regular social events.
All sides play home games at The Rolls Sports Ground in Highams Park where we have 2 cricket grounds adjoining our main clubhouse and private bar.
We run an Annual Tour each year, Normally at the beginning of August. Having toured Kent for many years and also visiting Bristol and Torquay, We have had many enjoyable years based in Brighton.
We run an active and growing Junior section which has over 85 members from the age of 8 up to 17. The Junior section practice 2 nights a week and play fixtures every Sunday morning throughout the Summer. We have 5 ECB qualified coaches and are currently working towards gaining ECB Clubmark accreditation. The Junior section also play 6-A-Side indoor cricket during the Winter.
Winter net practice for Senior members commences in February at St Aubyns School Sports Hall, Bunces Lane, Woodford Green, Essex.
